Throughout her life, Susannah Meyer has been involved in her community through volunteer work and advocacy. When she re-entered the workforce after staying home with her children for several years, she left behind her corporate career and gravitated toward the nonprofit world - working first with children with non-verbal autism and later with older adults and adults with disabilities, which has since become her area of focus.
During the rise of COVID in 2020, Susannah campaigned and was elected as a Brentwood City Councilmember. In 2022, while retaining her council seat, Susannah began a role as Executive Director for Empowered Aging, a nonprofit protecting the rights, safety, and quality of life of older adults and adults with disabilities in Solano, Alameda, and Contra Costa counties. At the start of 2023, she was nominated by her city's mayor and voted in by the full council as Vice Mayor for a two-year term.
